Experience

Certification and experience: Teacher of Social Studies and Psychology (currently employed - for the 2015-2016 school year I will be teach AP Psychology, CP Psychology, CP World History) Certified by State of NJ to teach both Social Studies and Psychology Experienced educator and tutor: have taught all high school history subjects at multiple levels, experienced AP Psychology teacher, tutor of Social Studies on grades 8-12, bedside instructor, proficient in using online learning management systems Professional Membership: National Council of Social Studies American Psychological Association About me: I am a friendly and caring individual that thinks outside of the box. There is not one way to learn new material and there are so many strategies to help one maintain previously learned material for later use. I am naturally a high energy person and I bring this enthusiasm into my teaching. Additionally, as a teacher of psychology, I am constantly reading about the newest research on learning, cognition, and memory. The human mind is fascinating and while it can play many tricks on us, we can also train ourselves to fool our brains! In addition to teaching Social Studies full time, I have been a bedside instructor for high school students that are ill, a tutor in the media center of the high school where I currently teach, and previously tutored with the Upward Bound in New Orleans. I also have experience teaching with online learning management systems and am comfortable communicating/tutoring via the Internet for those unable to meet in person.

Hobbies

I have two dogs, one is big and one is little. I am energetic and like to exercise. I am a great cook and baker. My fingernails and toenails are always a wacky color, but I'm afraid to ever dye my hair. (random, but hey, why not!?) My favorite color is chartreuse. If I could eat any kind of candy it would be a toss up between gummy bears and jelly beans. I love ice hockey, and yes, I am a Devils fan. Sorry Rangers fans :-( Over the summer I love to be outside. I go walking, hiking, swimming, anything fun and outdoors! PS - My availability listed is my summer availability. I will update the availability once the school year (2015-2016) begins.
